The Cosmetology Program prepares students for a career as a cosmetology professional. The recommended courses of study are designed to meet licensure requirements established by the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation.
Courses of study lead to the following awards:
- Associate of Applied Science in Cosmetology Operator (60 semester credit hours).
- Level 1 Certificate in Cosmetology Operator (28 semester credit hours).
- Level 1 Certificate in Esthetician (22 semester credit hours).
- Level 1 Certificate in Barbering (28 semester credit hours).
Cosmetology and Barbering students must attend the orientation that is held before the first class day. Students will not be allowed to start class until they are registered with the TDLR (Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation). The $25 registration fee can be paid for at the business office with cash or with a debit card. Students must bring the receipt to the mandatory orientation.
TDLR mandates a current picture on every student registered in a cosmetology or barbering program. this picture will be placed on your cosmetology or barbering permit and folder. Email one picture or bring two pictures to the mandatory orientation.
The Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation mandates the completion and passing of all the registered modules (courses) to be eligible to take the state board exam. Students must be in attendance to receive credit.
Students must earn a minimum grade of ‘C’ in all technical courses in the Recommended Program of Study.
