Veterans Affairs

Lamar State College Port Arthur is approved under most of the Veterans Educational Assistance programs for educational training of veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces.

The Staff that is designated to assist the veterans, spouse and dependent is maintained in the Office of Student Financial Aid and assists veterans in obtaining their educational benefits. Appointments are available at https://lscpa.craniumcafe.com/group/veterans/scheduler.

Persons who were citizens of Texas at the time of entry into the Armed Forces, who served the proper length of time, were discharged in any other character except dishonorable, and no longer eligible for federal benefits are exempt from tuition and laboratory fees. To obtain this Hazelwood, necessary papers must be presented prior to registration and approval obtained from the Office of Veteran Affairs.

The above exemption also extends to qualifying spouses, children and dependents of members of the Armed Forces.

Students who expect to attend Lamar State College Port Arthur under some veterans benefit plan should contact the Office of Student Financial Aid 60 to 90 days prior to registration. The Office of Student Financial Aid advises veterans on program and training opportunities, academic assistance and counseling. Located in the Student Center, Room 304A.
