Music Performance, Certificate

The Certificate in Music is a program designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary for studio recording and live performance in the commercial music industry. Courses allow students to study the fundamentals of music including sight-reading, sight singing, ear training and piano skills, develop an understanding of music business, become familiar with music technology and record in a professional recording studio. Classes are taught utilizing industry-standard software and equipment in professionally equipped facilities. This program prepares students for a wide variety of careers as instrumentalists and vocalists in studio or live performance settings.

Graduates of the Certificate in Music at Lamar State College Port Arthur can look to find employment as a session musician, gigging/touring musician, beat maker, producer, music programmer, music director, music minister, music teacher, songwriter, composer, arranger and more.
