Dual Credit Programs

The dual credit program at Lamar State College Port Arthur allows high school students beginning in the 9th grade to take college classes. Students may take classes toward a transfer associate's degree, an applied associate's degree, or a level 1 certificate. When taken as part of a dual credit program, college courses also count toward high school graduation requirements.

High school students must meet the same college readiness standards via the TSIA2, SAT, or ACT as other college students for courses requiring college readiness. Additionally, dual credit students may use PSAT or STAAR EOC scores to demonstrate college readiness. The college offers some courses which do not require college readiness.

For more information, students may contact the Office of Dual Credit Programs at (409) 984-6102 or dualcredit@lamarpa.edu.
